The Down Syndrome Family Support and Advocacy Group is a non-profit organization. We are strictly a volunteer group, which means 100% of the proceeds of sales and donations are used to improve the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and provide local support services, such as new parent information packets, grants, scholarships, and research.
The bracelets featured are made by two local jewelry designers with input from our Down syndrome support group.

Michiana Buddy Walker's Bracelet This beautifully crafted bracelet is constructed of "Swarovski Crystals and silver beads." The three colors, (Jonquil-yellow, Rose-Pink, and Tanzanite-blue) mirror the local Michiana Buddy Walk logo colors to carry on this community event's name recognition. The three colors also represent the extra third chromosome associated with Down syndrome. Sterling silver block beads (D, heart, and S) are located in the middle of the bracelet. The bracelet is finished with two very special, unique charms (pair of "baby feet" to represent our steps for a brighter tomorrow and sterling silver "Believe" charm because we believe in the future of our children). Down Syndrome Awareness Car Ribbon Magnet Our unique car ribbon magnet was designed with three tails to represent the extra 21st chromosome associated with Down syndrome. The small pop-out magnet shaped in a heart represents the unconditional love we have learned from our children with down syndrome. It also reminds us of the many people with DS who have dealt so bravely with heart issues. The ribbon is made in the traditional DS colors of blue and yellow. 2008 Snapshots Calendar This 8.5 by 11.5 inch calendar features 58 individuals with Down syndrome from the Michiana community. Looking through the calendar you will see how children with Down syndrome are like all other children. They love to play, are creative, enjoy sports, music, and having friends. What shines through are the personalities, compassion, humor, creativity and attitudes that make them unique individuals. Adopt-a-Mouse Get your own cuddly stuffed toy mouse today. All purchases go directly towards funding DSRTF-sponsored Down syndrome cognition research activities. One of the major costs in DS research is the DS mice which cost approximately $500 each. To help offset these costs, the adopt-a-mouse campaign was started. The toy mice are priced at $21 (representing the extra copy of the 21st chromosome in individuals with Down syndrome), plus $2.25 S&H per mouse. Local Mom Publishes Book This book was written by a mother of a child diagnosed at birth with Down Syndrome. This story is unique in the way it was written, since the Mom chose to write it as if her son was telling the story. This story will take you on an incredible faith-filled journey as a family enters the world of taking care of a child with special needs. As a member of the Michiana Down Syndrome Family Support and Advocacy Group (DSFSAG), I wanted something to be able to go back to the Down Syndrome children of our community. So I decided that 10% of the proceeds of the sale of this book will go to the group, to help with funding towards educational or social activities for the children of our community.
